In my opinion, the peg is made of alloy, or at least coated with another metal. I'm not an expert, but I've noticed that the material bends slightly when hammered in. However, hammering in works really...

The pegs are used to stretch a net over a pond. The pegs are very sturdy and long enough to be driven deep into the ground. Delivery, including the precisely sized net, was quick. Very good.
