As a lack of fall protection on light domes and skylights can time and again cause serious injuries or even fatal accidents, mobile protection measures like safety nets are becoming ever more important. Our light dome nets reliably protect people engaged in maintenance and snow clearance in winter.
From the inside, they let in light, but from outside they can present a hazard: light domes. Light domes in buildings serve to provide natural light, to aerate and ventilate, and to discharge smoke. In winter, they are often not visible during service and maintenance or snow clearance. A light dome net installed beforehand helps to provide protection.
Portions of flat roofs designed to be just slightly arched or pyramid-shaped can hardly be distinguished from the surface even under only 10 cm of fresh snow. For this reason, light dome nets are gaining importance in times of improved safety stipulations and a clear understanding of safety. No one wants to take responsibility if a worker injures themselves severely or fatally due to breaking through a skylight. Light dome nets therefore function as fall safety nets which safely catch the person who is falling through.
At Safetynet365 the light dome net is available in two fixed sizes: 2 x 2 m and 3 x 3 m. If your light domes don’t conform to standard measurements, we can also make you an individually-tailored net. Every fall safety net that you receive from us conforms to the mandatory standards of the German Institute for Standardisation (DIN), which is necessary for it to be approved. These standards also include a specific energy absorption and tensile strength.
The material itself (polypropylene) is of course weather-resistant (the synthetic fabric cannot rot) for outdoor use in snowy, icy and wet conditions and the filament yarn, which remains absolutely tear proof and shape-stable even after many years of outdoor use. A material thickness of 5 mm has proved safe for catching an adult.
To be able to absorb the energy in the event of a fall (although the light dome net falls under the category of preventive nets), this fall safety net has a thick border and a polysteel belt strap. You can find general guidelines for installing fall safety nets here.
