The hay net or hayrack net holds dry fodder for feeding hoofed animals. It is mounted in the cowshed/stable, or on the paddock, and used mainly in winter. The hay net is a practical solution when the animals are getting very little exercise and there is a risk of their becoming overweight. In addition, horses are kept occupied constantly pulling at the hay.
The High Demands on the Hay Net
The installation of a simple hay net can improve the health of your horses. Not only does it curtail the problem of trodden-on hay, but also due to the net the animals consume their feed more carefully and gorge less. However, it is important to note that the hayrack net should be mounted so as to be easily accessible, e.g. at the level of the animals’ heads between horse-stall beams or trees. But be careful here: it is a mistake to rely solely on hay nets for feeding. You should also offer some mixed feed and provide easily accessible roughage.
Our hay nets are less complicated to handle: the highly tear proof, weather-resistant polypropylene raschel fabric is knotless and chafe-resistant. This is important in order to easily withstand the horse’s molars. Once your horses have grasped the basics of pulling out hay, you’ll never have to worry about them biting right through the polypropylene net.
Order Made-to-Measure Hayrack Nets
Safetynet365 offers different models of high-quality netting in various colors. We stock hay nets in three mesh sizes: 30, 45 or 60 mm. As there is a longstanding debate as to which mesh size is ideal for feeding horses, we leave it up to you to decide which size you prefer to use. However, please use only high-quality, long-stemmed hay for feeding so that the animals can easily pull at the hay.
You can order nets from us made to measure and by the square meter, so you can adapt your hay net in accordance with your own ideas. Each net is therefore a unique creation! Using practical accessories such as carabiners, ropes or tensioning cords, you can prepare and offer your hay in the stable just as you like.
